Message from our chairman
Stemming from our values and inherent to our brand, we at KPMG are committed to supporting the communities in which we work, and seek to enable our own Corporate Citizenship goals at the local, national and global levels.
We are determined to be responsible corporate citizens because we believe it is in the interest of wider society that we bring our skills and resources to bear on the issues facing the world today.
Increasingly that means moving beyond good governance, compliance ethical behavior and philanthropy to being a committed partner with other groups in society, to tackle global social and environmental issues.
We are also becoming increasingly strategic in our Corporate Citizenship work. Our goal is to make KPMG famous for:
- Setting the pace on citizenship;
- Inspiring KPMG people to think innovatively and to engage with significant local community issues, as leaders, volunteers and supporters;
- Encouraging KPMG people to engage with the big issues facing the world today;
- Working with community partners to achieve our goals;
There are some themes that unite us all, KPMG member firms, and the International Board has agreed that these should provide a framework for the Corporate Citizenship strategy of each of our member firms around the world. They are:
Education
Building the capacity of schools and colleges to advance the skills and potential of young people and to help build enterprise and community cohesion.
The Environment
Investing in responsible use of natural resources, working with leadership groups to address issues, such as climate change and food and water scarcity, and helping our own people behave in a sustainable way.
Development
Investing in social justice and building sustainable enterprises to tackle poverty, in line with aims of the Millennium Development Goals.
